It has never been done before. Honda brings their latest creation to production. They have created an extraordinary piece of machinery in the Mean Mower that is the fastest lawnmower on the planet.

Honda (UK) teamed up with their title winning British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) partner, Team Dynamics have build Mean Mower with a top speed estimated to be over 130 miles per hour and it can make 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.0 seconds.

This racy take on the riding mower develops 96 Nm (70 lb.ft) of torque, 109 hp (which gives it roughly 100 more ponies than most of its lawn tractor brethren) and has a power-to-weight ratio of 532 bhp/tonne thanks to a weight of only 140 kg (308 lb).

Billed as world’s fastest lawn mower, Team Dynamics re-engineered the HF2620 from the ground-up, adding an all-new fabricated chassis, custom-made from 4130 chromoly, a 1,000cc engine from a VTR Firestorm, a paddle-shifted six-speed transmission, a Cobra sports seat, a Scorpion exhaust system and a steering rack taken from a Morris Minor, a bespoke suspension and wheels from an ATV.

The body was sourced from the production mower. The grass bag provides a home for the fuel tank, a high capacity oil cooler and a secondary water cooling radiator.

As for its ability to cut grass, the Mean sports two electric motors on the cutter deck, spinning a 3mm steel cutting cable at 4000rpm, with Honda stating that the mower can cut grass at around 15mph (24km/h), which is more than double the top speed of the original HF2620.

Honda says that it has topped 100 mph on track, but there's no video to verify this.
