The Scrooser Electric Scooter: No Need For A License Or Helmet

The Scrooser Electric Scooter

The Scrooser’s a cool scooter with electric motor and big fat tires that you ride standing up like a child's scooter has achieved its funding target on Kickstarter, allowing final development to go ahead.

Germany-based Scrooser has just unveiled the sleekest electric scooter yet. It's similar to a push scooter rather than a traditional motored one, due to its incredibly engineered impulse drive that quadruples the power of your kicks to a top speed of 15mph.

The Scrooser Electric Scooter Has A Top Speed Of  15mph

You’ve got to give it a good kick-off by standing up and kicking at the ground to move it along. You’ll have to give it a burst of speed of at least 2 mph (around 3 km/hr) every once in a while to keep it going. The Scrooser measures 1.75 meters and weighs just 61 pounds(28kg) , the scooter features a frame made of aluminium tube formed by a process called “freeform 3D bending" and is equipped with a hydraulic front disk brake, an internal rear motor brake, integrated front and back LED lights for riding at night, a double kickstand, and an ignition lock. It’s also got an integrated steel cable lock below the seat for added security.

The team at Scrooser is looking to change the way we look at scooters. Sporting a sleek, minimal design the Scrooser is an electric scooter that allows commuters the ability to ride without the need for a license or helmet.

Scrooser founder Jens Thieme described the product as "a completely new vehicle category." He added: "“We are very happy with the success of Scrooser on Kickstarter. With the fresh capital, we can now take final developments of our innovative Impulse Drive and we get a lot closer to our goal. "

"A perfect pace for maneuvering through the city among pedestrian filled sidewalks is around 6 mph" the company's website explains, "but feel free to race cyclists on bike paths at a maximum speed of up to 15 mph."

With The Scrooser Electric Scooter There Is  No Need For A License Or Helmet

With wide wheels and a low centre of gravity, the Scrooser remains upright when the rider dismounts. The 1000W motor provides direct power to the rear wheel, without the need for gears or chains.

A rechargeable lithium-ion battery located beneath the footboard can provide power for up to 25 days, and takes around 3 hours to recharge via a standard power outlet.
