Browser Tracking for Personalized Pins by Pinterest |
Pinterest is releasing its forthcoming update that will dish up personalized board suggestions based on your activity on the site as well as your browsing history.
So, the fact that Pinterest will soon track browsing history didn’t sit well with some but fret not, as this feature can be disabled.
As, Pinterest software engineer Ke Chen said the team really wants everyone to feel like the site is uniquely theirs. Over the next few weeks, they will be trying out new ways to help people find more pins they love and fewer they don’t.
Chen goes on to say they are excited to give everyone a more personalized experience but they also understand if some people aren’t interested.
Those interested in enabling Do Not Track can navigate to their Pinterest settings and scroll to find “Personalization.” It’s here that you will be able to choose whether or not to let Pinterest personalize your experience based on sites you visit elsewhere on the web.
The websites that allows you to keep track of you via cookies can have its benefits as you’ll be able to store usernames and passwords without having to enter them in each time. On the other hand, you’ll also fall victim to targeted advertising and who knows what else.
