Now, iOS Users Can Do HD Video Chat With Skype

Now, iOS Users Can Do HD Video Chat With Skype

Skype on Monday introduced a series of new updates to its iPhone and iPad apps, including the ability to make HD video calls. The company said anyone with an iPhone 5 or iPad 4 (the iPad 3 front-facing camera doesn’t support it) can now Skype in 720p, which means your conversations with friends and family will be even sharper.

Although Skype isn’t the first service to enable HD Video Chat on iOS and other mobile devices, they are indeed the most used. People using Skype on computers will definitely notice an improvement in video quality when talking with people on mobile HD Video Chat. The update also brings other minor changes including audio and video call stability along with the standard bug fixes, and better support for those anyone currently running iOS 7 beta.

The update was first released for the iPad version of the application, and then shortly after released for the iPhone/iPod touch version of the application.

Skype requires iOS 5.0 or later to run. The iPhone and iPad updates are available now for free download in the Apple iTunes Store.

You can pick up the 4.10 update now—iOS 5 compatible and up—which is available for most of Apple’s mobile devices; HD video calling, however, only works for the iPhone 5 and iPad 4.
